I recently got a new RODI unit. It doesnt have the check valve youre supposed to use with auto shut off. Ive been meaning to buy one but just havent. Well, I hooked it up to my brute can with an auto shut off float valve and forgot about it overnight. The can filled up, and the auto shut off valve worked, so all the water is in the can and not on my floor-but with no check valve, waste water is still coming out the waste line, and flow has stopped from the RODI line at this point(because of the auto shut off valve) I unhooked everything and My TDS meter is still reading zero.
Can this damage or prematurely age the filters or membrane?
Or is it just putting extra waste water down the drain?
