RODI sediment question

I am starting to get a 75gallon tank ready. I still need to do all the plumbing but got a bit excited today so started to make some water. I ran about 20 gallons today and a bit concerned that my sediment filter is looking pretty gnarly after only doing 20gals. I forgot to order more filters while ordering everything for the system. I would like to run at least another 60 gallons tomorrow. Should I be concerned about this or am I just overreacting? Sidenote: I have the 5 Stage Premium 100 GPD RO/DI System.

If you are not seeing a reduction in pressure after the filter you should be fine.

Thats a lot of sediment for 20gals of water... are you on city water or well water.

That’s my first filter on the BRS system to start looking crummy (dirty rust color, just like yours.) Welcome to MY house. Lol.

Thankfully, those are fairly cheap filters. I’m running one right now, making about 60 gallons of water at a time, and I’m still only up to 3 TDS; it’s a FOWLER, so I don’t shoot for 0 or 1 all the time. But ‘yes,’ have a couple of those on hand because with what is evidently your water source those filters will go crud-up first. Best wishes!

A few years ago, I lived at a place that was on well water. (about 10-15 miles away) and our sediment filter would get caked up and look like rusty mud. I figured city water would be a little better but guess not. **places emergency order for filters***

I ended up ordering a prefilter that is washable in hope of it taking the bulk of the crap out. I hope it works. I don't not want to have to change the sediment & DI every 50 gallons.

U will need a good sediment filter maybe two sediment filters?!??because u stand the risk of clogging your carbon filter and membrane.... you may also want to monitor the system pressure because if the pressure drops too low your membrane may not work correctly

I'll see how the prefilter does. It's a 20 micron so I hope it's able to catch a good mount. If that doesn't work then ill do a 5 micron in the middle of the two.

Ya ur gonna want to get some good filters. A in line tds meter or hand held unit.
And a in line pressure gauge. They usually come with the quick connects. Id hook it at the incoming water to see the pressure your getting.
