I have been curious to know if anyone could give me insight whether the small amount of leftover saltwater in bottom of my storage tank is enough to spoil my next new saltwater mix every two weeks ? There is about an 1/2 inch or so I cannot pump out .
The left tank is for rodi and the right is for saltwater mix

I'm only running a 40 gallon acrylic tank for salt mix I found at my lfs for 10 bucks. I've had no issues with contamination from leaving a little in it before I refill. I will have to clean it out every 3 months or so form the (best guess) clay separating and sticking to the sides (brown tint). Probably amplified from having a rectangle tank with flat sides instead of a circular storage tank.

That one has a Fluval g3 with a inline heater and uv, then a simplicity return pump I had laying around for mixing.

So, on my setup, I've noticed no issues. Even skimmer wise, which I use for instant checks.

I have a similar setup, running for over two years, and have not seen any issues related to this.

Thank you Jay Z.
I always wondered if there there was some long term effects doing this. I am glad it’s not caused any issues .

I'm about 2 years into using my mixing station and always have a gallon or 2 leftover(bulkhead position leaves a gallon or so). I have yet to clean out the barrel and have had 0 issues with it. Just keep in mind that it may take a bit less salt then it usually does to mix the same amount of water
