Hi everyone! I have a problem...my RODI unit needs me to remove the aerator from my kitchen sink to use it, and it is really STUCK in there. None of the wrenches I bought fit it, and we could not remove it with pliers either. Also, I discovered that some of my distilled water I have been buying from the store has a TDS above zero :( may explain some of my algae problems. What can I do to produce good quality water for the saltwater tanks until I find a way to get the aerator off the sink? Can I buy RO water from the store and pass it through a zerowater filter (basically a small DI unit)? Any other ideas? Thanks :)

In a pinch, LFS should sell RO/DI.

Post a picture of the problem your having with your unit.

It's not a problem with the unit itself...it's a problem with the sink. The aerator in the aerator faucet is stuck and won't come out, and I need to get it out if I want to use the RODI unit.

Okay, your attaching the RO/DI unit to the faucet. Got it.

Have you tried using pliers on the aerator?

Yep...it did not budge. It's in there good :( My grandfather is coming up in December and I am hoping he will be better at removing aerators.

Something

like these are handy things to have around for all kinds of things

Doesnt have to be a rubber band. You could use a rubber jar opener or even an exercise band.

Locking pliers on the one that is stuck. You will damage the finish, but just get a new aerator

Leave the faucet alone.
Look at a saddle valve for the plumbing below the sink.
Saddle valve will limit amount of water/psi, and works by punching a hole into your plumbing. Which relies on a piece of rubber to keep it water tight. Cheap and easy but not a good choice. Better off putting a tee onto valve that supplies cold water to faucet. 3/8 - 3/8 - 1/4”
Plumbing supply, homecheapo, whatever

Saddle valve for waste/drain which is not under pressure is fine

Get a two way junction and attach to the cold water side of your washing machine.

Don't use sink use plumbing under it. But why do you want your ro under sink you don't need that ro faucet. If in house use washer hose bib and tee off placing large container to collect water with auto shutoff. That little 2-5 gallon tank that comes with ro is not enough
