RODI system freezing caution!

I was going to post this just on the local forum but then remembered that its pretty cold everywhere right now. Heard a loud bang today and couldn't figure out what it was until I went in my garage. A filter blew off my rodi, breaking the top of it from being frozen. My garage stays a lot warmer than outside but its extremely cold right now. Loosen your filters for water to get out!.

Better yet, bring it in the house. You will probably not be able to drain the membrane housing, really you don't want to, and it could freeze inside damaging the membrane which is very fragile.

Wow. I'm glad mine is in the house, of course that could be because I don't have a garage anymore.

I left mine in the car last Saturday after my move, the canister broke in the same place, luckily I had a spare.

Just found this out. The hard way.

Basically have to rebuild my system and going to move it into the laundry room. Was trying to keep my stuff out of sight but can't afford this mistake now and certainly don't want to have to repair again.

So mine was on the porch and it got down to -6. I had just put 2 new membranes in. i have a water saver system. Are they toast?

Membrane does go bad. Mine froze then the water would come out white. Had to replace the filters and membrane. Have it sitting inside now. Been buying water at the supermarket. I don’t have a drain or sink in my basement
