Ive been using the Aquatics Life Twist in RODI system for the last couple of months. Works well and I like it.

I’ve added a float valve with pressure switch to fill a container. I’ve noticed that when it shuts off, it still is dumping wasting water. Is this normal? Could I have it hooked up wrong? Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Yes even though your production water has stopped the unit still runs for a little bit until enough pressure builds up to close your pressure valve.

Sorry, let me add some clarification. I added an auto shut off float valve with the pressure switch. All of that shuts off correctly. However, even with it off, the RODI is still pushing waste water out...

How long has it been going with valves shut off? I just got the BRS 6 Stage and had the same issue. They said to let it run for 15-30 min and mine still never shut off. They are sending me a new one as mine must be faulty

I do not know about the Aquatics Life Twist RODI but the same question does the ro system have a auto shut off valve in addition to the float valve you added?

I got sick of holding the float valve up after 5min. So it was dumping waste water for 5min with valve off.

I installed every piece he installed in that video. Actually used it as my guide.

The unit will continue to run even after the shut off valve has been activated. The pressure switch that cuts water flow to your membrane requires back pressure to stop production, and that pressure takes a bit to build up, consider how slow your production water drips out, that has to build back pressure to activate the shut off pressure switch.

You will most likely need to run it longer then that in order for it to cause enough back pressure. It’s not going to be instantaneous.

Perfect. Thanks. I will let it fill up so it shuts off and leave it be for a while. Thanks for the help!

I let it run overnight. The float valve shut the supply water off at around 2am. Checked again at 6am and the WASTE line was still flowing. 4 hours should be plenty for it to build enough pressure.

The supply line (yellow) goes into the “top in” side of the solenoid, and comes out of the “top out” then to the RODI unit. Clean water line, after the DI chamber, goes into “bottom in” and has the check valve on it. Finally the line running to the float valve is attach to the “bottom out” side.

Is this the correct setup? I watched another video online and they have the waste line connected to the solenoid valve.

An ASOV should cut off flow to the system within no more than about 30 seconds of the DI output being closed. Sometimes, if the ASOV is brand new, the little rubber piece inside is stuck - with the outlet of the DI still closed, rap on the ASOV with the handle of a screw driver a few times and you may hear the rubber piece pop free.

We also find that if people add their own ASOV, sometimes the issue is that it is plumbed incorrectly.

If its an older ASOV tha is no longer working, more often than not it is the check valve on the permeate tube that has failed.

I just tapped on the ASOV. Nothing.

I’ve tried plumbing a few ways, the way I described above is the only way it will produce water. So I’m guessing that’s right....

Russ - I want to thank you for taking your time today and walking me through this over the phone.

This isn’t one of your systems, and you still took the time to help. That’s awesome and you are A++ in my book! I’ll make sure I stop at buckeye hydro next time I need anything RO related.

I’m happy to report that everything works as it should now! Again, I can’t thank you enough.

That is excellent customer service to a non-customer

All part of our business model :). The idea is, if enough people see this sort of service over the years, at least some of them will recognize the value and become customers. I have to admit that it is really rewarding when that happens!

@Buckeye Hydro WAY TO GO with some GREAT R2R member service
