Need recommendations for a reliable RODI system. I am so done with the RO Buddie system its not even funny. Everytime I turn around it is either leaking or not working at all. I have tried multiple ways of hooking it up, multiple adapters, multiple water sources and nothing gives. I have spent way too much of my time over the last 4 months then I think its worth.

I have a 50 gallon cube. I do about a 10 gallon water change every 2 weeks, and go through about 5 gallons of RODI every week from evaporation.

Sorry for the small rant. I just got back in from outside messing with it for about 45 minutes in the cold :D

Air water ice, and Buckeye Hydro are good places to start. bulk reef supply sells units too.

Like shrimp nibbles, the spectrapure units enjoy a very good reputation. The RO membranes that Spectrapure uses supposedly have the highest rejection rates in the industry. I have a bulk Reef supply unit and it has worked very well. Bulk Reef Supply also has a pile of you tube videos on their RODI systems and that comes in handy.

The unit doesnt matter much its the filters.
Spectrapure 99% rejection select plus produces 0 to 1tds on 130tds tap. Ill only use this now.

Only unit suggestion is get all clear housings with a tds meter.

I've can say my 5 stage from BRS has been working well for the last 7 years.

Yes our county water here uses Chloramine.
Well shoot. Chloramines attack and degrade the RO membrane. My unit has 2 carbon blocks before the RO membrane to remove chlorine. Fortunately, my water is treated with chlorine and not choramines. I understand that one needs enhanced carbon to remove the chloramines. There are units that are designed to handle chloramines.

My BRS unit has two in line tds meters. I monitor tds after the RO membrane. I have two DI canisters. I have the second in line tds meter after the first DI canister. When the tds meter has a reading of 1, I remove the canister. My second canister full of fresh DI resin insures that my system always produces 0 tds water.

When my first DI canister depletes, I remove it and repack it. I put the number 2 canister in slot number 1 and put my newly repacked canister into slot 2. But I produce a fair bit of water.

I would suggest that in your BRS system, that you get an Automatic shut off float valve for your RODI water storage unit. I have one and it is cheap and saves me from floods. It makes things easier.

The other thing I recommend Is a flush unit for your RO membrane. It is cheap too. I flush my RO membrane before every use and my membrane held up for 4 years.

And the last thing I recommend is getting the inline tds sensors.

I bought this 6-stage unit for about $330. It comes with a TDS meter and automatic membrane flush.

I’ve only had it a little over a month. It turned my 115 TDS water to 0 - which is what I’d expect a system to be able to do.

Im happy because mine produces 0 tds with no deion resin!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I ended up going with the BRS 5 Stage premium. I bought the pressure gauge and TDS reader separately. Should be here tomorrow.

I will be spending the weekend figuring out how I actually want to hook it up, and where.

Those little RO Buddy type systems are not a good choice for this hobby, with very few exceptions. We have all the components to build them, but we don't.

FWIW - My RODI was custom built by Russ at Buckeye Hydro about 6 or 8 years ago. Other than the occasional changing of filters and DI resin, it has performed without a hitch.

I don't bother looking anywhere else. Competitive prices and the very best customer service. BH for the WIN!!!
