Just tested my LFS RODI water and it was at 5. I haven’t installed my own yet as my current living situation would make it difficult but if the target is 0 I would like to get there. Is there a RODI system that I can hook up to a sink, get about 10g of water then unhook it? Are most systems a permanent inline situation? I would be able to splice in a valve or something if needed. Thanks guys.

I really need to install mine somewhere, but for years, I've had my RODI on a cart that I wheel into a closet when I'm not using. I have an adapter on my faucet and just connect the RODI when I want to filter water. Run the drain line down the sink drain. Simple :)

In my old house, I had it mounted on the wall next to the washing machine; got a splitter and put it on the cold water line, and ran the drain line down the washing machine drain.
Better than my current solution , lol

Awesome thanks for responding! When I’m done getting the water do I leave the filters wet like my RV filters or does it matter?

Yep, don't unscrew the canisters or anything. If it's been a while since last use, just toss out the first few gallons of water when you start it back up.

You're looking for a good rod unit that's portable? Is that what I'm reading.

I just ordered this today and a few people I know just love the unit. Plus they're on sale right now until I believe either Thursday night or the sale ends Friday morning. At BRS

Home stores, in the plumbing section have adaptors for adding a valve under the sink to supply 1/4 waterline to the refridgerator ice maker. Most RO (and RODI) filters could attach directly to the 1/4 supply, and some that are made to filter water for those icemakers have a drain adaptor that just saddles onto the drain pipe under the sink. Pretty standard stuff. We have one that has a 4 gallon tank that splits off to the ice machine and a drinking faucet at the kitchen sink.

My RODI I make in the garage, it has a garden hose adaptor that I put on a spigot, the RODI goes into a barrel and the waste water is draining on my apercot tree.

Thanks for that info I’m gonna look into it after I eat.

If kept sealed and covered does it keep well? Do I have treat it with something?

From all my research on that unit I ordered you just make your water and cover it up and that's it. Nothing to treat, you would just cover it up to keep any dust or aerosols if the life like spring such a stuff in the house.

The value plus has a TDS meter on the in and out and comes with fittings for your sink or garden hose style for your washing machine. And when you're done you can just slide it under the counter that's it.

I have mine split right from the slop sink spigot a hose splitter. I leave the cold water on and badda bing. I also have valves to bypass the di, so the water is great for drinking. I don't like the taste of 0 water I get 6 without the di and every one loves it, even run it straight to the fridge for ice and water dispenser.

Any RO system can be hooked up as you describe.
You could use a Faucet Adapter Kit, or better yet, an Undersink Shut Off Valve
