First post here, looking to start into the reef aquarium hobby by picking up a IM nano fusion 20. It's still sitting in the box waiting to start before I have a better grasp of everything, (maybe a few more months?). I've done quite a bit of research into RODI system but it's still a bit complicated. Or maybe i'm just overthinking it. I looked into the water quality tables for my area (Hermosa beach, California) and It shows that in the 2015 report Chloramine ranged from 0.88-2.8 but in 2016 it says n/a which i'm assuming means that they no longer treat the water with chloramine? Assuming they did should i go with a 5 stage system or will I be okay with a 4 stage?

i'm thinking about either getting the BRS
http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/5-stage-75gpd-value-ro-di-system-bulk-reef-supply.html

or the spectrapure

Or maybe there's something else you guys recommend?

I appreciate the help! Thanks!

I would suggest a 5 stage filter system. I just recently switch to a 5 stage because is was burning through DI resin very fast and started looking at my potable water supply. The local water supply uses chloramine to help keep the water from breaking down faster, and understand why. I had know this I would have gone with a 5 stage filter in the first place. I would go for the higher GPD filter. Waiting for water can be a pain sometimes. Otherwise the two filter and basicly the same, except for the RO membrane.

Thanks for the reply did you go with the BRS 5 stage?

Aqua FX barracuda with the chloramine buster add on. I also now pack my own DI filter with silica resin and DI.

Your welcome. I would rather you have what you need at first then find out that you need to add more.
