Ok... I'm a bit embarrassed to ask this since I've had a tank for a while now.

Can someone help me with a run through on how to set up an RODI unit? They make it sound like you just plug and play but I think there's more to it. For example, when I change out my DI filter, I have to play with the pressure using a valve on the clean output and the dirty output end to make it pass through the filter. It's totally possible for my unit to completely bypass one of the DI filters.

Hope someone can help? Thanks!

Do you mean you are not seeing water fill a canister ?

I can help. could you take a pic of the configuration like where the tubes go the best you can.

typical RODI you hook to a water source, flows through the canisters with filters. then in to RO membrane that separates clean and dirty, clean goes on to DI resin and dirty in the drain. there may be an auto-shutoff valve built in thats a little box with 4 holes and tubes from clean and input pass through it. if you do have it, then there is a check valve as well and those 2 things can fail and cause a pressure issue on the clean side.
pics will help troubleshoot this for you

P.S. don't be embarrassed to ask and learn how things work. I've seen professionals not know how to make these work properly

what unit do you have can i view it online or do you have a picture of it?
I have the aquatic life twist in one because I got sick of asking for help to change a canister.....

I had this issue with the old one too... the standard blue clear BRS RODI system

yes exactly right.
The water must pass thru the canister for it to enter the next. Sometimes air get trapped and the canister does not fill all the way. The water is still making contact with the filter media and it is doing its job.
If it bothers you, on some units you can unscrew the canister a bit and let the air out then tighten it before the water comes out.

Do you guys control the outflow (clean and dirty) at all or you just let it self regulate?

Control it with the correct flow restrictor to get 4:1 ratio

Looking at your picture it looks like the flow restritor is on the output line not the waste line.

i would sat that the resin that doesn't stay full is misleading there is a stream of water running down the inside of the canister wall on mine but it works just fine. i remember baby doll bottles that would empty as you held them upside down. i should probably look at how the chamber is constructed the next time i empty it. the size of the stream is comparable to the output flow .
