I've been buying my r/o from a local buddy but starting to feel it would be best for me to just buy my own...what's a good System to look into? My tank is around 100g total

Does it have a tds meter on it? And how long does the filters usually last before needing to change out?
Mine didn't when I bought it. It was cheaper at the time to buy the meter separately. You can get it with the meter installed though. Mine literally took about 2 minutes to install. As far as how long the media lasts, it all depends on the quality of your sourse water. The DI resin will get exhausted first. BRS has several videos on the subject.

Is it better to have so many meters or one tds at the final product fine?
My meter just tests source and output. You can test at the output of the RO membrane too to monitor when the membrane needs to be replaced.

I went cheap with a KoolerMax ARS-122. I almost immediately replaced their horizontal DI chambers but because my water requires 3 stage DI to run economically (high CO2, was burning through mixed media like it was candy). The only drawback is you have to get their carbon and sediment cartridges (which are fairly priced). The RO membrane is standard and works like a champ. No issues.

Not sure I'd recommend starting out with 3 stage DI as some with good quality municipal water won't need it.

RODI units are almost infinitely upgradeable for any issue you may run into operationally (high TDS, high COs, low pressure, etc).

Cannot go wrong with BRS supplied units though. But if on limited budget, their upgrades can be added on to almost any system.

Awesome I'll definitely start my search at BRS

Originally I only had output from RO and output from DI. With that 3 stage DI kit came a TDS meter so now I measure Input to system, output from RO, output from 2 stage DI and output from last stage DI. Gotta say, I use all of them and find it very useful to monitor performance of different stages.

Oh and a pressure gauge can be useful as well. ;)

Again, none of that is required initially...but it's not a waste of money either. I've wasted some money on my tank equipment with stuff I don't use, so far that's not true with my RODI system.

Can't really go wrong with any of them as they are all pretty much the same with a few exceptions. Definitely suggest a PSI Guage as well as a 3 stage TDS meter for pre membrane, post membrane and post DI resin readings. I'm a big supporter of Spectrapure units and love there filters as well.

Before looking at systems I highly suggest you track down a local water supply report so you know exactly what you're dealing with in your water. This will effect what system you need to be looking to purchase...

I didnt even know you could get a local water supply report haha ..another good idea

Lol you absolutely can, the most important thing you're looking for is whether or not you are working with chlorine or chloramines. This is the biggest thing to be aware of before you purchase your unit as there are units that come with chlorine or chloramine specific carbon blocks.

Makes sense appreciate the heads up!
