Hello, I purchased a Spectrapure Aquarium RODI Starter kit.

I finally got it setup corrected, hooked up and running but ran into a couple bumps and was hoping for some clarity on questions I had from some experts.

1. I'm getting 45-50 psi on the gauge, is a pressure pump still required?

I read 80psi is optimal. But is optimal = required?

2. My TDS in is 1-2, but TDS out is 3-5

I ran this RODI unit for close to 12 hours, and my out TDS only dropped to 3 at the lowest. Do I need to buy an add-on for an extra stage or do I just need to let it run longer? I'm kind of confused at this point on how to proceed. :')

I had 3-5 TDS out of my unit when I set up with 40psi in. I added a boost pump to get 80psi and my TDS out went to to about 1-2

How many stages are you using?

4 stage Sedament, carbon block, ro, di

Ok thank you :) I'll look into the booster pump then

a booster pump will only help the RO membrane rejection.
if you're getting TDS reading after your DI resin, the resin is not performing its job, or is already exhausted, or the tds meter is not calibrated properly.

OR... your tds meter out is measuring RO out and not DI out :)

maybe some pictures or a description on how the water flows through the stages. and wehre the tds probes are.
it's easy to hook it up wrong if you missed something.

Increasing your pressure will make the membrane work better but you already are getting very good water out of your membrane at 1-2 TDS.

Check TDS in three spots.
Before entering system.......could be anything like 100-300.
After exiting RO membrane......should by 5-10......if not membrane leaking or toast.
After DI.....0-1 at the most or your resin is gone.

Is it possible to blow my resin in <24h ?

Was the DI already in the canister and ready to use or did you have to pack it yourself?

If the water coming out of the Membrane was say more than 30ppm, then you will use the resin, 10x faster.
For long resin life, you want no more than 5ppm out of the membrane, resin is the polish on the those last solids.
