RODI unit water coming out too fast

I only changed the Sediment and DI Resin filters. I didn’t touch the membrane or carbon.

After changing the filters, the water is coming out too strong. I don’t know what I did wrong. I’m using the aqua FX barracuda
 
how old were the filters when you replaced them? Specifically the sediment filters?
 
check the flow rates of your new filters against what your flow restrictor is designed for. If it's not right, the unit will gush water almost like you're intentionally flushing the membrane.

In this case the OP did not change his RO Membrane so his flow restrictor size won't be an issue:)

misread that. yes, you're right. I'd still doublecheck that the flow restrictor wasn't damaged or reversed while fussing with the system. You don't often hear about RODI systems operating too well.. lol
 
And whats the TDS coming out?

It’s weird, before I switched out the filter, the red was on 78 and the blue was on 60.

After switching, the red is 0 and blue is on 10
 
I didn’t touch the membrane at all. All I touched was the valve on the water input flow (I turned it off, but then turned it on) and that was it.

Sorry not familiar with that unit, red and blue? I'm assuming the blue is before the DI, and the red is after? If thats the case, then your good, you should have 0 TDS water. If your filters were plugged that bad, then I'm sure your producing water faster with new cartridges.
 
It’s not supposed to flow out fast. BRS said it’s supposed to come out as drips. Mine is coming out like a soft stream.

This is what I'm gathering myself as well, it seems the filters were saturated and the new ones have increased flow through the unit. Which is great! :)

Unless your unit is in around the 40GPD mark (which it isn't) your product water should be a slow stream. This can also be affected by your PSI going into the system as well. My system produces a large stream of water that fills up a 5 gallon jug real quick, mind you it is a 180GPD system but still I believe the barracuda is 100GPD so it should be a steady slow stream. You can always grab a measuring cup and measure out the output and see if it's close to the 100 GPD the Barracuda is rated for (I did to a quick search and thats what they are supposed to be producing).

Thanks everyone! I didn’t know that my filters were that clogged, actually I did. The sediment was nasty!

I am happy it’s fast, I just wanted to be sure that it was filtering. I thought slower = cleaner.

While we are at it, mind filling us in on more about your supply water? City or well water? Incoming PSI? How much water have you been making typically?

It might be worth looking at running dual sediment filters or also replacing your carbon blocks to keep your system running in tip top shape.:)
 
Did your unit come with a pressure gauge?

If not I would buy one and put it right before the RO membrane. This will tell you when you need to replace your carbon and sediment filters. As the filters get clogged your pressure will fall. Just keep a mental note of what the pressure is when the filters are new, as it drops, you replace the filters.

Luckily for me, my water is fairly clean(only 24TDS incoming). So I change my filters when my DI is exhausted.
 
City water. I’m not sure what the levels are before filtration, but the pressure was on 40 before I changed the filters. I need to check again.
