RODI unit with Alkaline filter

I'm looking into buying a new RODI unit and I've noticed a few of them have an Alkaline filter. Would this be detrimental to a reef tank?

Would be fine for drinking.

Depending on how much of each it adds back it could be bad for the tank, but it ultimately depends on how much.

Plus everything this adds will also be added in by your salt mix so really no need, so I wouldn't waste your money on it, unless your using it to re-mineralize the DI water to drink it's

Basically this will add some level of sodium, calcium, and magnesium back in to the water after you strip it all out with RO/DI

I would not recommend uncontrolled addition of those things.

I didn't think it would be a good idea. It comes with the unit I was looking at and I saw it on a couple other units as well. It's been years since I've looked at new rodi systems and don't remember this being a thing, but maybe I didn't look that thoroughly last time. If I get one that comes with it, I'll just not hook it up.
