Rodi water and TDS in brute

I setup my tank this weekend and began the fill process, two days ago. After I made my first batch of rodi it read 0ppm tds I mixed the saltwater and put it in.

Next back i made rodi i read 70ppm tds. Keep in mind I had mixed saltwater in the same barrel.

So I was worried and dumped it and started over. Next batch 3ppm in my batch, mixed and made it again.

Now again my fresh rodi is reading 70ppm again... and I am wondering if its caused by the residual saltwater mixed in... I need a separate mixing barrel

Any ideas?

My guess is it's from using the same barrel. The smallest amount of saltwater will make your TDS meter sing. Yes, get another container for your RODI and use your existing for mixing.

This...you should get a clean 5 gall bucket or another container to test TDS independently of your mixing container.

I agree. It takes just a tiny amount of salt residue to make your water tds sky rocket.

I use one can to store RODI and another to mix saltwater. But I know people who add a bit of salt mix to their RODI water to stabilize it. Seems a little odd but a small amount of salt will not hurt.
