So I have a simple yet in a way can be a complicated question.
Does RODI water go bad??
I have a 20 gallon tub I make water in every week to fill up my 5 gallon jugs. Once the jugs are filled up I continue making water and fill the tub again. Then add 2 pumps, one with a hose to fill up my tanks and another pump for circulation. I leave the hose in the water but the outlet tip is out of the water to create a little aeration. I always clean everything when I'm done, I then dry and store till the next weekend.
Well this time I decided to make fresh water a few days in advance and just have the pumps running. When I double checked the TDS, it had risen to 233ppm. Started at 0. Then I was like ok I'll check the jugs, they read 1ppm. Now, I am confused as heck... what do I trust haha.
Any feedback is appreciated and thank you for reading my short story!!

RODI doesn't go bad but the containers you are storing it in can leach dissolved solids into the water. It could be a problem with either your tub or the hoses.

Hhmmm, well it can't be the pumps cause they are made for being in the water. I would assume it's the hose, from what your saying.
This is the tub.

Here is the hose. It was lying around so I cleaned it and started using it a while back.

Is the reservoir tightly covered? If not that's likely the cause.

Reservoirs themselves can leach solids when new as mentioned, but they stop over time.

Nope, not sealed it's just a lid that leave a little 1/2" gap

I'm assuming I should toss the water that's in the tub now... or use it for something else...

Would anyone think or know if those buckets release any metals?

What's NSF, "not safe for.."?
If that's what it means, that's why I'm asking, I don't know if it is. I am just trying to do a process of elimination.

NSF: national sanitation foundation

It is the only reconized food grade material we in the food industry use.

Food grade materials will be labeled NSF, it is what we should use for our aquariums.

Got it!! Thanks, I'll do a little search out, but I doubt it is. It's just a regular tote that is at Walmart.

I would ignore the TDS in stored RO/DI. Just a little salty dust getting in will boost the TDS.

I didn't really think of that... could be... right now I'm doing a process of elimination. The pumps are good, the hose I took out. So I'm going to run the pumps without he hose for a bit and see if the TDS rises. If it doesn't, then it's the hose. If it does then it's the tote or salty dust.

Well process of elimination is complete haha. It ended up being the hose... that's what my assumption was as people use totes all the time, of all sorts, but hoses/lines are different. I just so happen to have some beer tap hose and that's what I was using. Ran RODI water for 2 days, no hose, same TDS reading. Then connected the hose and let it run for a day, TDS went up to 73ppm. The brand is Micro-Matic for the hose.
