rodi water smells like di resin

I just replaced the cartridges for my rodi filter. and the water coming out of the filter smells like the DI resin. I've filtered about 100 +/- 60 gallons through it so far. Is this normal? if not whats causing it to smell like the resin?

I have never used cartridges just refillable type. I have never noticed any resin smell out of the sack. Could it be the cartridge and not the resin?

The smell will go away after a while. Is the trash you put the left over resin in anywhere near the water?

I know if I throw the extra resin in the trash the entire bottom floor of our house will stink for a few hours.

Do you have a tds meter? If it reads zero, I'd use it.
