RODI, well water, insane DI consumption

Recently moved and now on well. Have well filter. Incoming TDS is 11, but burned through a whole canister of DI resin mixed bed in only 50 gallons!!! Have went out a well water test, but results pending. Any have a thought of the likely cause???

Most Likely culprit is co2 in the water. You can run the ro into a bin, toss a bubbler in it for a few days, then pump the water through the di to resolve the issue. Assuming co2 is the problem

What is your "well filter?" A sediment filter? Backwashing carbon tank?

A little more work but you may want to degas the RO water first. I started doing this and can get 400 gallons from my DI now.

I have the same issue. I never confirmed it’s CO2. I just deal with it.

I do however have 3 stages of DI though: cation, anion, then mixed. I can usually get about 80-100 gallons or so for each anion canister. The other two last a long time as long as I swap out the anion before it is all used up.

Flows into a vertical piece of 4” pvc with an air stone then it over flows into a 5 gallon container with a pump to pump thru the DI

If your incoming water is 11 ppm TDS (I’m assuming units since you didn’t say, what does it look like if you use only the RO and skip DI? My well water drops from something like 300 ppm at the well to 1-3 ppm after filters and RO. I don’t bother with DI since by the time I filter and then mix in salt the CO2 will be gone. I think people get any too obsessed with trying to get to zero ppm.

I was contemplating the same thing. The highest I have seen it go after the membrane is 2 ppm.

I split my RO and Di unit. I have a 34 gallon rubbermade collecting the RO water first. I then let it degas with a large airstone ( 8PPM water) overnight. I use a RO booster to pass the degas water in to the DI part. A little more work, but went from spending about 500$ in BRS Di resin per year to around 100$.
