Quick general question on multiple hookups from a water source. Instead of swapping my washer and rodi lines every time i want to make RODI, I can install a Y connector and just turn the water on and off to each side as needed. My question, would steel or zinc Y connectors be ok for RODI or should I go with a plastic model. If plastic, can anyone recommend any quality options?

I have a plastic one, just grabbed a sturdy looking one at the hardware store.. I also have a ball valve on the rodi supply line so I don't have to reach behind the washer every time.
I also think a metal one would be fine, it's coming out of a brass or some other metal spigot anyway

Does BRS have those or...?

Id go brass... If you have a floor drain or like to live on the edge get the plastic. There are too many things that can go wrong in this hobby... And that plastic y blowing apart in the middle of the night isn't going to be one of mine.

Does brass have any adverse affects? I'd likely keep them turned off all the time and only turn on when needed, but I definitely want something durable.

That was gonna be the next comment... Shut off whatever supplies that plastic y with water when not in use. The brass valve is at the very beginning of the run so if it lets anything out the rodi will take it back out. Been running mine for a year and it hasn't hurt membrane or shortened life if my resin. Someone is gonna laugh but get a timer, I was so happy with it.

That's dope! Where did you get that? I've flooded my place before so I'd definitely get one lol

Homewood,Lowe's or maybe amazon. I paid 25$ over a year ago... If your looking g for another great upgrade look in to membrane staging... BRS has a good video. Now when using that PlASTIC timer you might also want to practice turning off the supply on your brass valve. That said I forget to switch mine off all the time and hasn't been a problem
