I have pieced together a rodi unit and stainless steel water tank. My plan is to T off the ro system b4 the di unit and hook up the tank with a check valve so i can use it as drinking water. Keeping the ss tank separate from the aquarium water. does anyone see issues with this? Or does it sound good. Thanks

Thats fine. BRS actually sells a kit to do exactly that.

I just picked up that exact model tank for $10 today. I just need some extra hose and a water dispenser.

Not a problem. Our Reef/Residential system is plumbed like that. Make sure to use a check valve so that RO water from the pressure tank can't make its way back through the system to reach the DI. You'll also need a taste and odor filter between the pressure tank and the drinking water outlet (faucet?).

Make sure it is safe to drink the water.. SPECTRAPURE RO/DI does NOT recommend drinking water.

My concern with drinking post RO water is bacterial contamination. Systems for drinking often have sterilization systems incorporated, or they require relatively frequent sanitization of the insides.
