Rod's Food Supplier

I have become a big fan of Rod's Food, but don't know where to to get it locally anymore. Unless someone has a local source they can share, I am going to have to order some online. I hate to pay all the shipping and dry ice charges for a couple of packs of Rod's, so if anyone else locally wants to do a group buy let me know. We can just split the shipping equally. Premium Aquatics can do 10 packs to a color, so it will probably turn out to be ~$23 or so per pack if I order ten. If anyone knows of a better deal, or a better way to go about it, I am all ears. I have made food in the past, but it doesn't seem worth the effort when Rod's is available.

I just use the frozen cubes from the pet store. PetsMart or Petco, can't remember. I get one of each kind and rotate between them and a half dozen dry foods with some sushi nori from Wally World all in a glass of water stirred up into a slurry.

Yeah, I have 3 or 4 in the freezer now, with a bushel basket of silversides. I have four different flakes and nori, as well, all topped up with some elos vitamins and reef chili. I know that is probably more than enough, but most days I just like to throw a chunk of Rod's in because there is something for everybody and they are all excited to eat it. But admittedly, $23 for a brick of food ain't cheap.

For $23 I'd go get a prime rib and give the tank a pinch of shrimp pellets.

Hey, have you tried the new shoppe that opened up in Hartselle? I know it's a hop, skip & a jump out of the way but they carry saltwater fish & supplies, so it's worth a shot... The lady who does the tanks (a former customer of John Newby from CRA in Athens) said that they can order pretty much anything, so you should give them a call!

That is probably good advice, but I am not often a man who follows good advice. Otherwise, I would have a cheaper hobby. I don't want to count how many prime ribs are represented by my tank. And I am reasonably certain there was a time that you didn't either. :bigsmile:

Yup yup yup!

I called them the other day because I thought it was odd that a store that implies it is a doggie groom shoppe would have saltwater stuff, but they sure do! I made sure to talk to the lady & she seemed to know what she is talking about... Of course, if she was a customer of John's, she had to know what she was doing because he was pretty thorough on educating people. I may go up there within the next couple of days, so if I do, I will take & upload pics for you guys!
