Roller mat, filter sock, or nekid return

I currently use filter socks on a part time basis. I am trying to figure out what I want to use when I redo my plumbing, adding a larger return and herbie style.

What do you like to use? Tell me why in the comments.

Assuming you meant "Nakid" as in no kind of mechanical filtration that's my vote. Detritus plays an important role in reef ecosystems and I'll let it build up. I occasionally, as in years and years, will siphon out some.

I use poly fiber. I replace the fiber twice a week. A large bag that costs around 15 dollars lasts about 2 months. It is easier than constantly washing socks and use it as my only manual filtration. I also run a fuge with macro algae.I find the fiber easy, cheap and effective.
