Roller matt water level?

Whats the water level needed outside the roller matt? Mine covers the front black inlet with legs on. Is that not correct? Its my first fleece. And the water eas dirty after heavy feeding for 1 month but i was just wondeing about the outside if theres water height requirement. Red sea roller 1200

Sorry I can help as I have never used a roller mat. Only reason I'm commenting is because I am surprised how much mat is being used. I had no idea they would advance the roll that quickly. Your tank looks pristine compared to any of mine so I could only imagine how much I would go through.
