I recently had to tear down my tank, which I set up using the theiling Compact Rollermat. It beats the hell out of filter socks, but I don't know that it is as effective when it comes to polishing the water. I'm looking for a comparison of some other rollermats. I've listed the ones I am considering using below, in the order of consideration. For reference, if I don't buy the platinum sump, I have a Trigger Systems Sapphire CR44 I would likely be using.

Trigger Platinum Sump with Built In Rollermat

Red Sea ReefMat

Theiling Compact Rollermat

My concerns are how much the rollermat polishes the water, how good replacement rolls are, how easy the rolls are to replace, and how reliable the units are.

Why no Clarisea on your list? I love mine, though it’s the only one I have experience with.

My research seemed to indicate the trigger one was pretty bad.

I have the trigger one and really like it. I will say it took several months to get it tuned in. However, once it was, it worked great. Changing the rolls is a pain if you wait until the roll is depleted; however, if you change it before the roll is done, it is easier. The rolls last me a little over three months. I have had issues finding replacement rolls, so I tend to buy 2 or 3 at a time when I see them in stock. I would recommend with the caveat that patience is key with this one.
