I have had this Rommels Watermelon Acro (about 2'' now), it was growing nicely and now it stopped growing and has been discoloring. All my other acro's are fine and my water parameters are perfect and do 30 gallon water changed every 2 weeks.

Temp 77-79
Cal 430
Mag 1300-1400
alk 8-9
salinity 1.024-1.026

I have it 14'' below my ATI powermodule bulbs 6x54w. Daylights on from 1:45pm to 6:30pm and actinics from 11:15am - 9:00pm. It looks brown, but i have good polyp extension during the night. It is encrusted, but now it just wont grow. Anyone know where this likes to be placed?

Might want to check nitrates and phosphates. If not that You may want to check for red bugs or AEFW. Both can be very hard to spot especially flat worms.

all my other corals are fine and i dip everything before placing it in the tank. and i had not put anything in my tank from the point when the rommels rainbow acro was thriving to when it stopped growing and discolored. So i doubt AEFW and it has been 2 months since i added my last sps coral and the rommels rainbow started discoloring about 1.5 months ago

did you ask Mike what light he keeps his under?

I havnt had any luck wit that frag Adam we got from same place mine looked nice had good pe within few weeks no polyps looks like .... All my othe sps r thriving ! Soo who knows!

i got mine only 8 inches away from my lights and its amazing!! definitely one of the ones that people always ask "whats that?" when they come over.

Mine is right under the halide and grows like a weed. It grows so fast the colors take a week to catch up. This is the fastest growing coral in my tank next to my spongodes. Mine love the light as it is next to my millie's. Check your phosphates.

it did brown out on me one time when i had an alk dip while on vacation and the cal reactor took a dump...

i have a GHL Automatic Doser, so my levels stay constant, but i'm gona go check my phosphates and recheck all my levels... brb :)

maybe low nutrients?

i just spoke with him on Sunday and he told me he only runs all 6 lights for 5 hrs and 2 bulbs for 10 hrs..what is your photoperiod?

all 6 for 5 hours and 2 bulbs for 10 hours, so same exact thing.

what would help with higher nutrients?

feeding your fish more often or add a few more fish

aminos or aqua vitro fuel could help especially if you have low nitrates

I keep mine 20" below from 400w Radiums and color is very good.. Cant say my nutrients super low but i keep them under control.

Rommels rainbow or rommels watermelon? You said rainbow in title and watermelon in post so just wanted to make sure what you actually have.
