Rookie Reefer XL 425

The circuit that this outlet is on has little to no power draw. It is a series of outlets in a room with nothing plugged in. Having said that, the 15 amp circuit will have around 1650 watts available for the tank which is plenty. If I were on a circuit with any other significant loads, a sepperate circuit would probably be necessary. My original thought was a sepperate circuit but after checking the load I decided it was ok in my situation.

I spent a little more money today. I'm anxious to start the setup.

I noticed the ORP probe seems to be leaking. There is a white powder around the tip and the fluid level seems low compared to the other probe. I'll have to follow up with Neptune.
 
Ok. Neptune hasn't responded yet but I'm thinking this is just salt water. The clear caps are supposed to come off prior to installation. I should get a little deeper into the manual before asking questions...

Rocks came out of the bleach this weekend. I moved them from outside to the saltwater bin of my mixing station. From there I a rinsed them a few times with tap water and added a chlorine remover.

I also got the RO/DI system up and running. The pressure looks good from the city and TDS is showing zero. I'm currently filling the storage tank so I can mix some saltwater to cure the pukani.
 
Petsmart had a sale today so I took the opportunity to pick up a quarantine system. I went with a 20 gallon long tank with an Aqueon quiet flow 20 HOB Filter and Eheim 100w heater. It was around $65 total after tax.

Installed a float valve in my RO/DI reservoir this weekend. Also got the plumbing cleaned up around the utility sink. Next step is to install the two optical sensors and solenoid. The optical sensors will be the primary high and low with the float only operating as a mechanical backup.

Also got the first of two reactors installed today. I'll order a second one soon so I can run carbon and GFO. The sump is starting to come together.

I designed some small brackets to mount the optical sensors to a fiberglass rod. The small cutouts are for zip ties to secure them. I've got a few more brackets planned to mount the rod inside the Brute. The goal is to not have any holes below the water level with the exception of the bulkhead on the bottom.
 
In the next few days I'll post an update on the curing process. I've tested the water once and will test again prior to posting.

Looks nice. You had these done on a 3D printer?
 
Status update on the curing process...

I tested the water on June 10:
Phosphate 0.64, Nitrate 0.25, Ammonia 0.25 and Nitrite 0.

On June 21:
Phosphate 0.64, Nitrate 0, Ammonia 0.5 and Nitrite 0.

I did a full water change and will test again this weekend. I'm still a little confused on how to determine when the cure is done. When ammonia stops rising? When phosphate is...? More research is in my future.

Picked up a few more pieces of the puzzle. This covers most of the hardware. All I have left is the ATO and possibly a feeder.

These were $30 each at Menards. Another $10 for a 4x4 header. Good insurance policy for around $70. I'll get them installed when I have a little time over the 4th. Things are getting really close...can't wait to add water.
