Yeah makes me think i dont have a drilled tanked or room for a sump i was gonna run my canister with a hob protein skimmer

It may not be prefered, but it can be done. You just have to be religious about keeping the canister filter cleaned.

I started with a CPR bak pak 2 with my 72gal dt. The HOB worked really good and I would still be running it, if not for my wanting to build and tray a sump.

I dont have the space for a sump lol its a pet smart stand no room at all

My first 75g had a canister filter with a HOB skimmer and HOB fuge, it worked. Not idea, but it worked. Just make sure clean your canister often!
