Hey guys,
So I started with a small rose BTA about 12 months ago. It has now split prolly 12 times. Is this a serious problem??? Will it eventually take over my tank??? Should I intervene???

Also how do I take them out??

If your worried about other coral I would be very concerned and start giving them away or selling them to other Reefers. It maybe be hard to remove them but there are many different ways, I’ve had luck with the ice cube method. I would also get a anemone box so when there are splits you can easily catch them and place them in the box, keeping them away from the rock work.

I'm amazed your sps does not look bad, it should be stung and white where it touches.

That's a lot of splits in a short time, are you feeding too much or too big?

I feed normal amounts of reef frenzy, and a cube or 2 of PE Mysid... Either or... I do not target feed them....

That really does look awesome ...you can try aiming a power head at them ...that has worked for me ...also if you can get too the rock work too lift it up turning them upside down for a while over a bucket with saltwater in worked for me as well ...mine has just split again too ..

I agree it looks awesome! If you can catch a new split while it is still finding it's "spot" you can usually just peel it right off the rock. I have used the ice cube and powerhead method with no luck. I ended up getting this tool off of Amazon and so far I have been able to easily remove any of my BTA's by gently scraping the rock right beside/under the foot.

@DarthSimon you get them loose let me know if you are will to ship let me know I’d like a few of them. I use a credit card and some ice to move mine

+1, let me know if you plan on selling any. I'd personally be a little wary of the gold one, mainly because I don't know enough about the coating to know if it would be an issue or not.

Valid concern. Sps will be stung sooner rather than later. It does not happen overnight, but it will happen. I would move that stick, just cut it off the base. And yes, your btas will keep splitting.
