I got this rose bubble in a trade two days ago. I don't really have the room in my tank for the RBTA to fit on the live rock so I got one of those glass cups that you stick to the side of the glass. The RBTA seems to be doing fine so far but I am worried that my ocellaris clownfish pair will beat this RBTA to death. The clowns have already started to go into the RBTA and when they do it significantly closes up. The clowns currently host in two duncans and a frogspawn. The clowns have killed 4 individual frogspawn heads already over that last few months :( But my end goal is for the RBTA to get healthy and big enough to host the clowns full time so the clowns can stop killing my LPS.

Has anyone used one of these glass cups to keep anemones safe from clownfish and been successful?

I think it can work. But the issue you might have is the glass will get covered in diatoms and calcium build up. I keep some calcareous algae in a deli cup in my refugium and in a month or two you couldn't see through it. For me, being in the refugium (mostly out of sight) and still growing (lit from above) it's OK. But in your DT, it may become more work than it's worth. Just my 2 cents worth.

Good luck.

They dont keep anemones safe from clowns. That's not the purpose at all. They are simply display tools.

The nem climbed out of the cup and is on his own path. Hopefully he ends up in a place that wont sting my LPS. Zoas I can deal with losing a few.

wish my clowns took to the anemones, been over a year and they still wont!
If ur nems walking, please cover the powerheads... Few yrs ago when I got my very 1st nem, it went for a walk and got shriveled up bc I didn't do this. ;Blackeye

I don't have normal power heads in my tank. I have 4 outlets near the top of the water that shoot current across. Two of the outlets spin from the water pressure so there is a lot of random flow throughout the tank. The pumps for the outlets are behind in the sump so hopefully the Nem cannot get killed by anything like that.
