The new carbon
ok so I’ve had my tank up and running for about three months now and decided to add a bubble tip about a month ago. Was doing great till one day it wasn’t most days it’s just closed up or barly shows itself. Lately it’s popped out for a hr then gone again. So yesterday I added some carbon with zeolite for ammonia and the new has been out for the last 4 hours doesn’t look healthy by any means but it’s out
The last I check my water the only thing off was I had a little ammonia idk why unless a crab died etc.
Tank size 36 bow
tank temp is 80
Light is a led light I ordered for my 14g cube
Salt 1.26
Water change 5g weekly

If you have ammonia at 3 months your tank is still cycling...Get a probiotic of some sort to knock the ammonia down. then keep doing water changes and do not add anything to the tank until there is no ammonia or nitrites...It takes a while to establish a tank. 1 year until mature....

That temp is a little high IMO. I had the same problem with one of my green BTA's and sadly it passed away. It would never come into the light and I tried feeding it shrimp but it wasn't interested. Than one day I was lookin' for it and it had fallen off the rock and was chillin in the sand. I tried to get it back on the rock but it looked like it was dead. But long story short when I got that bta it was doing really well for about a month and then boom, lost color, didnt want to eat, and passed. It could be because your tank is still new-ish, or its maybe just the bta. But what I have read is if it is losing color make sure to feed it. Hopefully this helps

Agree with Ubergroover. If your cycle is complete ammonia and nitrites should be zero. When I cycle a tank I use liquid ammonia with no additives. To make sure I am cycled I raise it to 1ppm (I think the measurement is correct) and it should be zero ammonia and zero Nitrite within 24 hours.
