I have recently purchased this Rose headed Golby for 5$ (its left fine was clamped but right was ok). My tank was only a month old but the fish store was going to euthanize him so i put him in my first tank. His fin is looking better, but he isn't moving around much and has stopped eating. I have purple fire fish but I haven't seen them interact. What can I do to help my nemo?

It's difficult to tell from the picture, but I think I'm seeing a red spot on his side there and maybe another near his tail. Would that be a correct observation?

Is he eating? If not try target feeding baby brine shrimp with a turkey baster my old Yellow watchman went nuts for that stuff.

Ok what about mysis. I have baby brine cuz i used to breed german blue rams but just wanted to know if that would be better

The red spot looks like the start of a bacterial infection. If you can get him eating, it would be good to combine kanalpex with the food using Focus as a binder. That would make it reef safe. Otherwise, it may be a good idea to get him into a QT with the kanaplex which is an antibiotic. A dip in acriflavin (ruby reef rally has this in it) which is an antiseptic and should halt the progress of the infection so the antibiotics will have time to do their job.

Ok will do. He is taking mysis from my bubbly coral and putting it in his territory. Is that a bad thing.

Yeah definitely get him into a QT tank. You can target feed him from in there as well as treat his infection. Pick up some medication as soon as possible!
Good luck!

Taking the mysis from the coral sounds like a good thing to me.

Even though he isn't eating as well as you'd like, he's still at least interested in food.

Kanaplex can be dosed with food as Melypr1985 suggested - and that's a great way to get the medication inside the fish - but it can also be dosed into the water, which can at least help with fish who aren't eating.

I think getting him into QT with antibiotics is going to be your best bet. Kanaplex and/or Furan-2, with plenty of aeration.

I'll also +1 to an acriflavine bath in transit. Ruby reef rally, acriflavine-ms, and API fungus cure are all good sources.

How would i set up a qt tank i dont have much at all to do so is there any diy way?
