Round 2 with velvet

Good luck! Will you be attempting another FW dip today or are you going to let it ride until tomorrow?

I'll judge when I get home tonight whether one is needed or will just cause additional unneeded stress. My fiancee just said he was still alive and in the cave with the eel, my lights aren't set come on for another hour and only the eel is active until then. Well, as active as an eel gets.

I have a veterinarian that will give me a Rx for CP. I need to know dosage amounts so I can tell him how much to prescribe me. I'd like to get enough for a few treatments... incase I end up with a new fish down the line that needs it. @Humblefish @melypr1985

Thats why its not popular as copper. Its hard to find and gets expensive. Just as note, if you get the pills version, which is common now a days the 250 mg pill contains roughly 150 mg pure cp, while the 500 mg has 300, the rest is binding agent so it's still considered pure. Also be sure to store the CP in dry, cool, dark place, especially dark, as light will degrade CP with time. Once dissolved in water you dont need to worry about it degrading with light, but anyways since its velvet I would avoid light.

Ok, 30000mg sounds like plenty. Actually it sounds expensive. I'll see if he can write an Rx for powder, but pills will be fine. I'll just get a mortar and pestle and grind them. Cool and dark is no problem, my fiancee keeps all the blinds shut and I keep the AC set to 70 year round, lol.

This place sells the powder and 30 grams of CP should run you no more than $60: http://www.diamondbackdrugs.com

Guess who's alive, and looking for food?

Yea, he's a tough one. I'm not gong to FW dip tonight. I turned the whites on after I fed him and he still has the sores from the parasite but I didn't see any of the white dust he had last night. Aspiration rate is much slower than last night also, I'd say almost normal. Copper and the test kit gets here tomorrow and I'll have a 48B set up for the great fish catch... the eel will go into the 10g and have to wait on the CP to start treatment.

Already pecking at the fresh nori sheet.

Fixing to go get the 40b and set up the fish QT. The eel QT had a bit of a hiccup last night. I used this Christmas tree 3 plug extension cord because of where I was in the room. I'm glad this didn't happen under a Christmas tree, I'd be homeless. Only thing that stopped it was the circuit breaker on the UPS it was plugged into. If this was plugged into the wall I'm pretty sure the 20A circuit breaker wouldn't have popped before it started a fire.

Yikes! Glad the tang is doing well. Get him in copper asap velvet can be a fast killer!

Agreed, I feel like it is a lot tougher to distinguish at the lower levels. I think it is easier to tell under nondirect sunlight which you seem to have FWIW.
