I have a 40g breeder with a Split Y locline and 2 round nozzles at the end. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with both types and the pros and cons of each. If the flared nozzle is the best choice, what size would I need for my tank?

One tip if you go with flaired ends, by having them half in and half out of the water, it will prevent a siphon from forming if your power goes out / pump fails. Best wishes!

If you have any reasonable amount of return gph, then leaving the nozzle itself half out of the water is a bad idea. You'll end up with salt creep all over your walls, equipment, you name it. My recommendation for this is to put the nozzle pointing down or half way, but FULLY underwater as it will also break siphon the same way.

I’m actually not having that problem, but I guess I can at least see the potential for that happening. It’s always good to entertain other perspectives. :)

If you have a peninsula tank or a long tank with returns in the end spraying across the surface then your idea would be great as well...especially if it's a shallow(er) tank.
