I am adding some rowa phosphate additive to keep phosphates lower than I have them right now. I bought the 250 gram package and it says on the label that it is good enough for 26.4 gallons but the instructions read that 250 grams is good enough for 250 gallons. I have a 45 gallon tank and I'm wondering if I read something wrong. What do you guys think?

My tank has about 140 gallons between DT and sump. I have 4 Tangs, about 5" each, and 11 other, smaller fish. I use 1 cup (128 grams) of Rowaphos in a BRS reactor. I change the Rowaphos about once a month when phosphate starts to rise.

I recommend starting with a smaller amount and add more later if it wasn't enough. Don't run too much and cause your phosphate to go to zero. Bad things will likely happen like STN and RTN.

Mesh bag or reactor?
What are phosphates now?
Try 3 tablespoons or 40 grams.

I have been using ROWA for a year of so now in the mesh bag that comes with ROWA.
Make sure you use the mesh bag that comes with it. It's fine enough to keep it in the bag.
I change it every 3 weeks.
