I cannot figure out how the heck to
Use rox0.8 Carbon in a reactor. It is so small it goes right through my sponges in my reactor. I’ve tried placing the Carbon at the
Bottom of the reactor and trickling water through it and it all floats. I’ve tried putting the sponges up high so the Carbon is sandwiched between the bottom and top sponges at the top of the reactor and the Carbon goes right through the sponges. What the heck am I doing wrong?
Is anyone else having this problem and if so how do I correct it?

i had the same issue and decided to run it in between baffles of my sump in a small bag. first time i turned the reactor on i got half the rox floating around my sump. talk about a mess

Just a thought if it is going through the sponges. Uses a small micron nylon bag and put the sponges in them. Slide it down the canister. Then water can go through the bagged sponges and the ROX.08 can't go though it and only water will.
Or get a finer sponge and cut to fit the chamber.

Amen brother........I thought it was just me. Sponges don't fit tight enough and the Rox .8 are very small.

I now use two sponges on the top and it helps a bit. BTW, most filter bags have too large a mesh too.

I use a small micron mesh bag and never had a problem. I put the bag in an intank Tetra 10 pump and works great! Best carbon hands down.
I also make Purigen or Phosguard bags and use what is needed in there. Can't even see the Tetra filter. Black system against a black painted back glass.

Im using the "Next Reef MR1"
Reactor for the last 4 years and love it.
No problem with the Rox 08.
One helpful trick is to rinse the carbon the day before you plan on replacing it and set it aside, this way it is dry and don' get stuck to the sides of the reactor when your loading it
