A lot of people have been asking a out the age of the skimme. The skimmer is about 4 years old, I replaced the pump about 2 years ago due to me not cleaning it well for a move because I thought I was setting my tank back up but the movers dropped my 180g and needless to say it broke lol
I have the old motor block, I will include that too, it turns on but would spontaneously stop running.
It's a great skimmer but Im building a 1200 gallon system now and had to order a commercial skimmer.

What is the big deal with the bk180 compared to the vertex skimmers which is better this Bk180 or vertex 180i

The big difference is the pumps the Royal exclusiv come with the red dragon where most the vertex come with the sicce pumps, the higher end vertex do have red dragons.
Also vertex is made in China where Royal Exclusiv is hand made in Germany!

I my opinion Vertex Alpha & BK are close in comparison as both have similar pump. Vertex Omega is their entry level. If I am not mistaken Vertex are German made as well.

Appreciate the clarification on where it's made. There bound to be compromise on quality once it shifts to China besides cheap labor. I am happy camper with my BK double cone 180.
