I just added a Melanurus Wrasse a few minutes later my Royal Gamma came out of his hiding spot and opened up his mouth. Is this bad? Anything I can do?
Just trying to scare the new fish and assert dominance - they are more bark than bite and not very harmful. Should be fine once territories are figured out.
My gramma goes around opening his mouth all the time to scare other fish but they are use to it and don't even care anymore, he never actually attacks just tries to scare them lol.
If the fish is just opening its jaws, it is probably to impress. If a fish can find a reasonable sized sanctuary from aggression, they will usually be fine. What is a problem is when they only have a tiny space or are constantly pestered. That kind of stress will usually kill a fish.
