I noticed today my Royal Gramma has its middle area showing black marks on both sides. Hope the vdo is clear enough. I never noticed them before. Is it some disease??

Hi there,

Looks like it got some scrape damage possibly from a rock or scuffle. It doesn't look to me like any sort of fish disease, but I can't really say for certain. You can try separating the fish and getting it in a quarantine tank. But honestly, it may be best to not do anything as moving the fish and trying to catch it may cause more stress and damage than just letting it run it's course.

P.s. (after watching again, that bluehead thalassoma wrasse is harassing him. Add some more pvc or rocks, grammas need lots of hides)

All the best,
Gavin

Keep an eye on fish. Saltwater fish have the ability to heal on their own and quickly

My 75G is going to be FOWLR with big fish only. I gave away all my inverts. I have majority big fish (3-5 inches) with 3 small fishes includeing the Gramma. She has been shy since the beginning. Its been 3 weeks now and it seems to be scared of the other fish. I will add more pvc for now. Another week and the small fishes will move to the 30G tank.
