My royal gramma was shipped and delivered today. When the bag got here it was 89 degrees in the water. He was swimming upside down and struggling to breathe. I did a faster acclimation and got him in. Now he will swim upright then go and rest up against a rock. Need tips for what to do.

thanks for your help

Run your lights a little lower if you can. Try if you can (I know it's summer) to get windows open, especially near the tank. If you can't do that run a fan to air the house when it is cooler. Try to increase your flow without blowing him around. Take off anything obstructing the top of the tank. Cross your fingers ;)

Thats very common behavior for a stressed Gramma. They will lie in a tank corners and stay there for up to a day.

When I first got my royal I thought it died they go really nuts when you add them then they calm down. Mine went upside down against the overflow and didnt move I called my LFS and was explaining what was going on and then it flipped swam away and now is a very happy fish 2 years later. They are notorious for doing really strange things when newly added.
Keep and eye on it dont stress the fish too much lower the lighting I think you will be okay.

Nothing.
RG is hardy.
I would have done the same.
Just needs some time.
