I've had my royal gramma for 1 1/2 yrs. Recently shes been hiding and not coming out even to eat. I seen her just a little bit ago and she looks fine, still fat, no spots or scrapes. She's always gotten along with tank mates and nothing has changed in my tank and no other fish or inverts have been added since her. Do they just go into a funk sometimes??
Tank mates...
2x clowns. Kole tang. Purple firefish. Springer damsel, blue chromis, and the gramma
Inverts just a cleaner shrimp, 1 big snail, and a few small snails
I spend ALOT of time watching this tank lol and all fish are model citizens. Plus the purple firefish is the scaredy cat so if she's out then everything is good.

My stocking list is similar to yours plus a lot more.

I have always had a royal gramma and they can be cryptic.

Mine have always been out as well as my purple firefish. But I think you got it right in that he may be in a funk. This comes and goes.

If he is still eating well, I wouldn’t worry too much about it and just give it a little time.

Yea mine comes and goes, switches rock caves to hide in from time to time.
Sometimes it’s a change in flow or lighting that moves makes a change.
