Hi guys, so about a week ago my gramma looked perfectly fine, and a day later we noticed he was completely missing his back fin. After that, he was VERY lethargic, and would hide in a rock cave, often upside down, and would not eat at all. Was pretty sure he was a goner.

About a week later, he started coming out and eating. Today he's out almost ALL the time, and is trying to find food all day. He looks to be swimming okay, and isn't acting lethargic at all anymore. I just ordered some Melafix, in case of a bacterial infection, and will likely dose that as soon as I get it.

Do you guys think he'll survive? Any advice on how I can help him out?

Thanks!

He's alive and eating and swimming around just fine. Weird thing is now he's doing the opposite of what he did before. Typically, he'd hide for most of the day, then come to eat to eat at feeding times.

Now, he's just out looking for food almost all the time...not sure if that's a good thing right now, or if I should be more concerned.

Tail looks a bit better, less freyed at the edges, color all the way down, nothing grey or uncolored.

If the fish is eating like crazy and yet the stomach looks pinched in, it could be an internal pathogen problem. Also look for the "white and stringy" poo, usually the most commonly noticed symptom.

I'll keep watching for the white poo. Stomach doesn't look pinched in at all though, just had a good long look.
