Hi everyone,

I have a Royal Gramma in QT right now, and I'm using the TTM method and I'm on day 10. I noticed yesterday that the fish didn't really eat, and hasn't seemed to have eaten today (5/17) either. However on previous days the fish has eaten well, and the last recorded eating was on day 8 (Friday 5/15).

I had tried to QT a royal gramma a couple years ago and in that case it stopped eating on day 10, and I found it dead on day 14.

My question is since the new fish has stopped eating around the same time should I :

1) risk it and add it to the DT to give it a chance to settle in, eat pods etc.

2) keep going with the TTM, the fish will survive and be fine and I'm just being anxious.

Thank you!!

Stay the course and keep your QT going. You chose to do it for a reason. Have you tried soaking the food in garlic? Are you seeing any symptoms of disease or parasites?

If you’re not already using, try frozen foods. But I would keep going as well. Also sometimes increasing the temp to 80-82 helps

The fish was eating mysis shrimp until a few days ago. I’ve offered more mysis, LRS food, and some NLS pellets. But it hadn’t eaten those.

I’ve not seen any behavioral issues or symptoms that would cause concern at this point. I typically use TTM as a safe QT method for new arrivals to limit the chance of ich and I’ve not had too many problems with this method in the past. But the similarities to my previous failed attempt are very similar.

I’ll stay the course for now, better to lose a fish than the community in the DT. I’ll try some frozen brine tomorrow too and try the garlic method.

I know these guys can be shy at times but any other suggestions?
