royal gramma

I have a mated pair in a 300. They stay to one rock formation and do not wonder far. I think if your gonna try two, best to get a pair to avoid a territory war from same sex fish in a small tank...

Never had a royal gramma, but I try to follow the tank size recommendation given by the company that sell these fish.
The fish would probably fit in a smaller tank, so did Lions, and Elephants in a cage in a zoo. They fit in the cage, could stand up, turn around and and move 2 or 3 feet. Some small zoo are still like that. How do you feel when you see that?
Good zoo now try to give these animals roaming space, and the animals live longer, are healthier, and even reproduce.
Whenever you want to crowd a fish in a small tank, think about an elephant in a cage, or worse an elephant chained...I have seen some and that is still haunting me.

I usually try to follow the recommendations, but for royal gramma I feel it would be fine. I have one in a 15 gallon with a chalk bass. My RG doesn't move around much, just sits behind the rocks all day.

I think a royal gramma would be fine in a 13.5 gallon. They spend most of the time hanging out in a cave, crevice or wherever they've laid claim to. I have one that took up residence behind a powerhead although he routinely free-ranges all over the tank (mine is unique in this respect).

I think it would be ok, I had one in a 15 gallon and like everyone else is saying they don’t move too much. Have their own spot in the rock and just hang out in one spot out front during the day

They don't move very much. I had several 25-gallon tanks with one each and you never saw them...

woah m8 i only asked if a royal gramma would be fine in a 13.5 i didn't want you're life story thanks to all that answered anyways

may get 1 might not might just stick to coral only in the 13.5
You could always try a couple of cardinals. Or maybe cut out a couple of pictures of them and stick 'em to the glass - the result will look pretty much the same.

Please excuse this post, I'm pi$$ed already. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

well i want a fish for the corals really to keep nutrients up but what goes in a 13.5 i have a swiss guard in my 90 but would be impossible to catch it

Their very skittish fish, but look so nice when you do see them. I’ve had a total of 3 in 3 different tanks and two of them would hang out front all day. Third one added to the display and went missing 2 days later, never to be seen again. Now I have another one in qt

Yeah whatever he says... Royal gramma should be fine in a 13.5 for a little while until it reaches full adult size. They are rock dwelling.
