I recently got a Royal Tuxedo Urchin on Monday because I have a fair amount of algea and the store said they do a good job on that. I got a fairly small one about the size of 2 thumbs or so but since then it hasn't moved much and hasn't been sticking very strongly to rocks. Once it wandered into a stronger area of current and fell off the rock to the sand and wouldn't stick back to the rock well so I left it on the sandbed and put a piece of dried kelp there for it to have. It again didn't move much, but moved itself off the piece of kelp and has been sitting on the sandbed.
My questions are is it dying? I read that when they die they drop spines but I'm not seeing anything drop from it. and in the close up view I can still see the tiny little tentacles moving around off of it.
Is there anything I can do for it? Also are they supposed to stick strongly to rocks like snails do or do they have a tendancy to stick more loosely.
I slowly acclimated it using a 1/4th cup of water about every 15-20 min for 2 hours as the local place suggested.
My parameters are good
Salinity is 1.025
Nitrites 0
Ammonia 0
Nitrate 7
PH 8.2
Temp 82
