Lets see them pics. Im yet to see anything that resembles the pic from reef raft. I know there pic may be a lil ps. Has to be some mini colonies around by now.

There have been so many releases if a coral that looks sort of like the original, that it's not even a coral I want anymore unless I have good proof that it's from the original RR Canada colony.

I think it morphed in captivity to look like a tricolor so no one wants to show theirs. Hope I'm wrong.

So because some guy in RR canada didn't actually touch the coral you wouldn't want it even if it looked identical? Are you collecting corals or names? I don't understand if you like the look of a coral you buy it I can care less if it was from RR or joes fish and corals corner store Hackensack NJ

I understand this perspective; but at the same time if I am looking to propagate a piece, I like to know something is the "authentic" version before advertising the name and selling it to others. The thought of misleading others, even unintentionally, down the line doesn't sit right with me.

I'm with you on this. I know there are similar pieces out there but I consider myself a collector and want the orginal with proper lineage. I look at it as how car guys want a numbers matching camaro and not one put together from catalog parts.

I've been burned on this piece a few times by ppl selling "fakes" and saying they had lineage when they really didn't. I finally got a piece with verified lineage back to Tony at reef raft. But it's just a brown turd right now, but it's coloring up slowly

Ok your looking to propagate are you looking for top price when you sell frags? From what I hear RR doesn't propagate their corals they get nice wild acros and chop them up and sell so what your buying is wild corals that RR touched not propagated. So if you happen to see the same coral in another shop it probably is the same species just wasn't in their place so I don't understand why people get all hyped up over a coral that they sell. Unlike JF,tyree etc who actually propagate their corals and have a few generations that have done great in captivity and keep their colors under all lighting I can't see why RR is a collectors piece

Well said.

Lots of times you can find the exact same coral from a different vendor for a fraction of the price. Just because rr got one piece of the pie doesn't mean the rest isn't out there somewhere.

The reason so many are this concerned about lineage is so they can turn a profit off these so called high end corals. I just wonder what happened to the days when someone bought a frag to grow out and enjoy the beauty of this piece they worked so hard to have. I guess some people feel accomplished by growing a frag into a colony as others feel accomplished about how much money they have made off a frag.

Here is mine:

That's from my old tank. Getting back is color in my new tank....
