I've seen some references lately to Redsea Alk Pro, Ca Pro, and Mg Pro kits in silver boxes, and have seen descriptions for refill kits which say they for test kits in silver boxes only.

Are these silver-boxed kits newer and/or better than the "Pro" kits in black boxes?

Interesting... haven’t heard of these “silver boxed” test kits yet. Following this thread!

Following! I use cal pro and mag pro! Also use the nitrate pro!

I had also emailed Redsea directly too, and just got a detailed reply. In a nutshell, the black-boxed kits are the current ones; gray-boxed (or silver-boxed) ones are of the older generation. So, those sellers I saw mentioning "newer" kits on Amazon are selling older, possibly expired test and refill kits.

caveat emptor
