Did some googling and couldnt find any attempt or conversation about it. Has anyone tried or seen anything about someone doing this?

Due to the size of my sump and cabinet routing the hose that comes with the RM500 ends up taking even more space. And so i was thinking if i hard plumbed it i could have a more direct flow and have it drop down and in rather than snaked around the skimmer.

Or maybe at worst order a new hose cut it down to an inch or so and just hard plumbing most of the way but im afraid id end up with toany fittings and bushings for the conversion for it to fit.

Would it be possible to connect a union straight to the RM intake?

You could probably add a union directly the only issue would be finding one with the same threads, but you could also cut the included tube an inch or so out from the inlet of the RM and add the included hard tubing adapter depending on your drain plumbing size.

I havent yet. Work has sucked as weve been going to a transition to a new management software. And regular maintenance and still working to fish the hard plumbing to my UV and refugium.

Will be at least a few weeks before i start exploring the idea more. But if i work it out ill be sure to share!

I am in the process of doing this now. The issue is that most unions are too big. I did find one made by Spears 1" union that fits. I haven't finished redoing all my plumbing, but it does screw on correctly.

What union did you end up using (model from spears, etc)? I just got a new waterbox and unfortunately the new sump intake chamber (even though it's convertible between socks and fleece roller) isn't wide enough for the flexible tubing. I have never plumbed anything lol. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
