Hi everyone I just setup my new saltwater mixing station. I tried to make my first batch and it has turned white. Can I still use it?
If I turn the pump off the water pretty much clears but there is white stuff t the bottom. Is this ok?

Thanks

If the water turned white...
Do you have a heater in it and set for your display tank temp ?
Sounds like the slat needs to be dissolved more with a powerhead

No the water isn't heated however I live in Australia and it's been 25 to 30 Celcius for a few days

I’d try a heater. And make sure your pump for mixing is over 500gph

it precipitation. something happened. either the salt elements settled improperly or water was not right temp. if you tested the newly mixed water your alk and cal will be way off and low. you can use it but its chemistry will be off.

Did you add salt to water or water to salt?

water could also be rich in CO2 which will cause precipitation. like well water or non aerated non circulation/ sitting still water for long periods of time.etc

25 to 30c is 77 to 86F. most saltmix need to be within 76-78F and i have seen precipitation happening in hotter water temp specially it it was 86F.

Also could be just calcium carbonate that needs place to settle. if this is the case then no need to worry.
But my guess will be water temp too hot and carbonate precipitation.
