Rsm250 - add gyre or keep mp40

I have a rsm250 and been using a combo of mp10 and mp40. I seem to be getting dead spots on the sand bed. Would anybody recommend removing the ecotechs and replace with a red sea 25?
Both mp's are the older version that don't have mobius... Not sure if updating to the qd version would provide any benefits.

Upgrading the MP10/40 to the QD won't really change anything.
There is a wide flow guard that you can try if you want to have a wider flow

But it's still a totally different flow pattern with the gyre.
