RSR 750 XXL Overflow/pipes

Short version, my warranty replacement 750 is showing up tomorrow and I'm getting things ready for it by breaking down the old tank. I've got just about everything done and then I looked in the overflow. There is standing water in there and I can't get my normal drain hose it to pump it out. What's the best way to drain the overflow and get the pipes out?

I don't know if this is the best way, but here's how I did it.

To get the overflow and return lines out of the overflow box, you need to get to them from below and turn them with a pipe wrench. Remember, all that trapped water in the overflow is going to come down, so get ready for it. I taped a large funnel underneath the pipes with a bucket below. The funnel was down far enough to allow access with the pipe wrench. About three gallons came down. The threads are on the other side, so turn opposite of what you would think (picture turning from above and then translate that to underneath). If feels like you are 'righty-tighty' tightening, but you're actually loosening. Once you break the seal from below, it's easy to untighten them the rest of the way from the top.
